Throughout the Spring I'd been putting together materials such as a mini-comic, customized mailer, postcard/introduction letter, & business card. Including the mini comic, sticker, & cassette that my band made - I've compiled a nice pitch to submit to various studios in hopes of making a dream of an animated musical/storyboard-driven short (possibly series) a reality.
Today, I ventured out of the comfort of my central air cooled home & went out into the harsh sun to make my way to the post office so that I can mail stuff off & give this the ol' college try. I'll admit that it's as naive of a dream as sending demos to record labels these days, but the thing is - not trying to do something won't get me anywhere either. It can be rejected, it can be criticized, it can be ignored, but if I don't put it out there then it also won't be seen or have a shot of being something more than doodles & ideas that I kept to myself. I want to get my voice out there. All I need is the opportunity. I don't have industry contacts or experience working in that industry. What I can do is make something that seems like fun, work hard, be a bit plucky and maybe I can be that naive guy that got a break vs the bitter guy on the sideline that hates what everybody else is doing. *cue the inspirational music*
